Sri Shankaracharya Temple

Perched atop a hillock, this sacred temple dedicated to Lord Shiva is one of the most revered sites in the region. The temple's history dates back to 371 BC when it was originally built by King Gopaditya, founder of the Gopkar dynasty. It has been renovated multiple times, first by Raja Lalitaditya in the 8th century, then by King Zain-ul-Abdin of Kashmir, and later by Maharaja Gulab Singh of the Dogra Dynasty in the 18th century.
